Defying the Nazis: The Sharps’ War

Date(s) - September 7, 2016
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

DEFYING THE NAZIS: THE SHARPS’ WAR tells the story of a daring rescue mission that occurred on the precipice of World War II. It tells the previously untold account of Waitstill and Martha Sharp, an American minister (Unitarian Universalist) and his wife from Wellesley, Massachusetts, who left their children behind in the care of their parish and boldly committed to a life-threatening mission in Europe. Over two dangerous years they helped save scores of imperiled Jews and refugees fleeing the Nazi occupation across Europe.

The film is a 90-minute documentary that will premiere in September 2016 nationally on all PBS stations. In advance of its premiere, ideastream will hold a screening of the documentary in its entirety, followed by a 30 minute panel discussion. Rev. Joe Cherry will be among the panelists.
