Movie Night: “The Cats of Mirikitani”

Date(s) - October 15, 2017
5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Movie Night for October is Sunday, October 15, at 5:00 pm. The movie is “The Cats of Mirikitani.” It is a documentary about Jimmy Tsutomu Mirikitani, who survived the trauma of WWII internment camps, Hiroshima, and homelessness by creating art.  When 9/11 threatens his life on the New York City streets, a local film-maker brings him to her home, and the two embark on a journey to confront his painful past. This award-winning film is 74 minutes long and was released in 2008. It is at least as relevant in what it conveys about our world today. Those who attended the September 17th worship service will find the artwork familiar, as this is the artist who illustrated the story in Time for All Ages. Come watch the movie and discuss. Pizza will be provided.
