UUSC Movie Night: “Balto”

Date(s) - September 24, 2017
4:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Movie Night for September will be a family movie. We will meet 1/2 hour earlier than usual to accommodate bedtimes. It will be Sunday, Sept. 24, at 4:30 pm. The movie is Balto. This is an animated version of the true story of Balto, who you may have seen at the Museum of Natural History. Part husky, part wolf, Balto doesn’t feel that he belongs, but when diphtheria rages in Nome, there is no way to get lifesaving medication through a blizzard except by dogsled. (At this stage, I doubt if “spoiler alert” is needed: Balto is a hero.) The movie itself lasts 1 hour and 18 minutes, but if there is interest, we may watch some of the features. This movie is fine for all ages, and if kids want to bring a pillow and blanket to watch from the floor, that is fine. Pizza will be provided, and all are welcome. (Final note – adults enjoy this movie as well, and yes, young adults, this is the 2009 version you remember.)
