Sometimes it is hard to tap into our spiritual selves or find time to nurture our intellectual curiosity. Speaking Up For Those Who Aren’t Allowed To Speak

This father of a trans-female student athlete puts into words an experience and a deep care for his child that cuts through the social polarization and the controversy about athletics and trans experience. There are lots of personal feelings, lots of social angst and fear and confusion that surrounds this topic. And in all of that emotion, the lived lives of real trans people are almost alway erased in a cloud of bodily definitions. I’m not sure that this father, Brandon Boulware, has solved this issue or that he even speaks for every parent. But it is clear that he has seen his daughter and is speaking up for her. And that is something that powerfully comes through in his words.
