SUMMARY:UUs Together: Focus on Sustainability
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Event: Local UU congregations focus on Sustainability \n\n\n\nPlease join our local UU congregations as we gather for our first online meeting of the year. When we met last month for our In-Person Fun Day\, we asked attendees to vote on a list of topics for the coming year. ‘Climate/Environmental Justice’ was at the top of the responses. And\, so\, at this meeting we’ll focus on sustainability.   \n\n\n\nWe’ll hear from members of UUCC (Dell Salza and Anya Ustin) and West Shore (Speaker from FaCt) about what they’ve done to advance sustainability in their buildings\, on their grounds\, and in their communities\, as well as what they have in mind for the future. And together\, we’ll talk about what each of our congregations dream of accomplishing going forward. \n\n\n\nFor the zoom link\, please email Laurie at sunnyskies2023@yahoo.com

SUMMARY:Cinematic Scripture: ParaNorman
DESCRIPTION:ParaNorman is a 2012 American independent stop-motion animated comedy horror film.  Young Norman Babcock has the ability to speak with the dead. He learns that a centuries-old witch’s curse on their town is real and about to come true. \n\n\n\nJoin us every Wednesday night from 6pm – 9pm in the Fellowship Hall for a movie! \n\n\n\nUnitarian Universalism draws inspiration from world religions\, humanism\, poets and philosophers\, personal experience… and the big screen?  Join us in the Fellowship Hall as we gather to watch a variety of films\, from Hollywood blockbusters to forgotten indie gems followed by a discussion of the question: Is this scripture?  We’ll explore whether the film offers meaning\, moral guidance\, prophetic truth\, or espouses one of our guiding principles and find in what ways we personally connect (or don’t connect) with the people\, places\, and plots we’ve seen. \n\n\n\nThis group is open to anyone who wants to drop in. Bring a friend!|Bring your snacks\, your curious mind\, and your unique perspective on modern media as scripture. \n\n\n\nFor information\, contact Jonathan Papcun at  jbpapcun@gmail.comSign up to get timely announcements about the weekly movie: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C44AFA62CA5FAC43-65416789-cinematic

SUMMARY:RESCHEDULED: How to Lower the Temperature: Guidance on Listening & Learning in Divided Times
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dan Moulthrop\, CEO\, The City Club of Cleveland. \n\n\n\nAre you dreading a Thanksgiving argument with Uncle Al over your opposing political beliefs? Did a controversial speaker ignite loud boos at your son’s graduation? Our political climate Is increasingly marked by demonizing opponents\, building identity around grievances and labeling disagreements as disqualifying. What we agreed was hate speech 5 or 10 years ago is now mainstream. How can we turn this into politics of action\, progress and accountability?  \n\n\n\nIn person in Fellowship Hallor via Zoom: https://bit.ly/UUCCForumsThatMatterFall2026
