SUMMARY:Join UUs Together Monday March 31 to explore our 6 values!
DESCRIPTION:Join UUs Together\, on Monday March 31 virtually at 7pm to dive into the excellent workshop last Saturday at UUCC. Join us to see how Love and Accountability can help us explore our 6 values!Wow\, what a great workshop on Saturday March 22 at UUCC! Happily we had 7 people from UUCC there. If you saw the service on Sunday\, you got a hint of what was shared. I especially appreciated the frame that Renee Ruchotske offered. She took the two (perhaps) most controversial terms in our new Article II\, and used them to help us think about our 6 values (Justice\, Equity\, Transformation\, Pluralism\, Interdependence\, and Generosity). Attendees were from Pittsburgh\, West Virginia\, Youngstown\, Akron\, East Shore\, SWUU\, and more. \n\n\n\nHere are three lines (17-19) from the meaty section on Values and Covenant. I have highlighted the terms:Love is the power that holds us together and is at the center of our shared values. We are accountable to one another for doing the work of living our shared values through the spiritual discipline of Love.UUs Together\, meeting virtually on Monday March 31st from 7-8:30pm will dive into the Saturday workshop with you! In addition to the stalwart people from SouthWest UU\, West Shore UU\, and UUCC\, we may also have a few folks from East Shore and Akron\, who also attended the workshop. Those of us who attended look forward to sharing this\, as well as some great poetry that was created by a group process\, and other reflections. Please join us! \n\n\n\nSend an email to Laurie at sunnyskies2023@yahoo.com for the link.

SUMMARY:UU's Together: Leading with Love! Saturday March 22nd 10am-4pm Join us!
DESCRIPTION:UUs Together is delighted that our local leaders (including Rev Randy) are gathering us up right here at UUCC for “Leading with Love” on Saturday March 22 from 10am-4pm. We need each other in these fraught times\, and our leadership has structured a “whole person” gathering so we can draw sustenance and build power. Here’s the description of the day:Community Day facilitated by your local CER/UUA staff from 10am – 4pm.Lots of connection with your UU neighbors facing the same world you are.Agenda: \n\n\n\n\nWorship with local UUs\, led by CER staff.\n\n\n\nLearn More about Our Shared Values: What UU touchstones can we bring to these times? What parts of our theology do we need to explore and grow?\n\n\n\nLunch and Connect: Nourish your body while connecting with folks from neighboring congregations.\n\n\n\nTwo Workshops to Choose From: What are these times asking of us as UUs\, and what skills and practices will we as leaders need to respond? How do we (re)build communities of joy that help ground us?\n\n\n\nTheological reflection time in small groups: Which of our shared values is your congregation wrestling with? What can you share and learn from your neighbors?\n\n\n\nFraming for Next Steps: Staying centered and connected as we move together into the future.Everyone is welcome! Board and committee leaders\, parents\, children\, youth\, young adults\, staff members\, religious professionals\, ministers\, and any committed and engaged folks who love Unitarian Universalism and might not have formal roles. Childcare will be available (register by March 8!)\, with some light\, playful programming to help connect UU children and youth with one another and with the wider community.Registration deadline is March 15. Don’t leave registration for the last minute! Timely registration is important to ensure that our event can take place as planned.\n\n\n\n\nUse this link to register: https://uua.wufoo.com/forms/q1pm44521kw7rmr/ \n\n\n\nThe registration is confusing. When you get to this spot\, click on the In Person button\, and a drop down will appear\, so you can register for March 22 \n\n\n\nOur next UUs Together meeting will followup on this important experience\, and extend our connections and our values into the future. Join us virtually on Monday March 31st at 7pm for UUs Together.

SUMMARY:UUs Together January: Countering an unstoppable narrative
DESCRIPTION:Join UUs Together January meeting: How do we counter a narrative that seems unstoppable? \n\n\n\nWith the incoming administration promoting policies and actions that strongly conflict with our values and will harm many people\, it is seductive to feel paralyzed. Yet we know we have personal and group agency\, and can be mobilized to put out narratives that reflect our values and care. Please join us virtually Monday evening January 27th from 7-8:30pm. We will share ideas for promoting our narratives\, supporting each other in the process. Please send an email to Laurie at sunnyskies2023@yahoo.com for the zoom link.

Over 350 congregations across the country are utilizing the resources provided to create their own version of this national event. UUCC is offering: Saturday September 28 9-1 with snacks Sunday September 29 service at 10:15\, followed by Power Hour! You are welcome to join us. Here’s the registration link: https://uucleveland.org/uucc_event/2024-climate-justice-revival/ \n\n\n\n Our congregation will: Create a complex representation of the challenging realities and liberatory possibilities for climate justice in our unique context Develop a vision of a flourishing future Identify a clear set of potential actions that we can take to realize this vision Enable participants to understand their roles in the interdependent ecosystem of creating climate justice and collective liberation. What does this have to do with UUs Together? We will gather on Zoom on MONDAY SEPTEMBER 30 from 7-8:30 to debrief the weekend\, learn if there are actions all 3 congregations can participate in\, and help WSUU and SWUU have enough information to consider doing a revival\, perhaps around Earth Day 2025. At minimum\, it should be interesting to hear the impact of this relatively novel set of activities. To receive a zoom link\, please email Laurie at sunnyskies2023@yahoo.com

SUMMARY:The Year to Save the Earth - with Jim Scott
DESCRIPTION:“The Year to Save the Earth” – A Multimedia Experience by Jim Scott \n\n\n\nJoin us on Sunday\, September 22nd at 4:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall for “The Year to Save the Earth”. Mixing powerful songs and beautiful projected images\, The Year to Save the Earth takes us from grieving to celebration and from protest to positive vision for the planet. Jim’s lyrical melodies and outspoken poetry celebrate our beautiful\, amazing\, and fragile world. While facing the urgency of the environmental crisis\, the program’s message is one of optimism with many invitations to join in the singing. These amazing songs challenge us to feel\, to learn and to act! \n\n\n\nProlific composer guitarist Jim Scott was awarded an NEA grant to present this multimedia concert in Worcester MA with band and chorus. Jim brings warmth and humor with his jazz and world music influenced songs. He’s visited over 700 UU Churches in 4 decades of travels and his songs are in our hymnbooks (“Gather the Spirit”\, “May Your Life Be as a Song”\, and more). Formerly a member of the Paul Winter Consort\, Jim was composer of their celebrated Missa Gaia/Earth Mass and sang their anthem song Common Ground. He has toured the world\, recorded nine CDs of original music\, published a growing line of choral works\, and created the Earth and Spirit Songbook\, an anthology of over 100 songs of Earth by many contemporary composers.
