SUMMARY:How to Lower the Temperature: Guidance on Listening & Learning in Divided Times
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dan Moulthrop\, CEO\, The City Club of Cleveland. \n\n\n\nAre you dreading a Thanksgiving argument with Uncle Al over your opposing political beliefs? Did a controversial speaker ignite loud boos at your son’s graduation? Our political climate Is increasingly marked by demonizing opponents\, building identity around grievances and labeling disagreements as disqualifying. What we agreed was hate speech 5 or 10 years ago is now mainstream. How can we turn this into politics of action\, progress and accountability?  \n\n\n\nIn person in Fellowship Hallor via Zoom: https://bit.ly/UUCCForumsThatMatterFall2026

SUMMARY:Will Resource-Hungry Data Centers Devour Ohio?
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Molly Bryden\, Researcher for Climate & Sustainability at Policy Matters Ohio. \n\n\n\n Sunday\, October 18 @ 9:00 am – 10:00 am.  Interest in data centers and their impacts is growing day by day as the public becomes increasingly aware of the impact of these massive installations. It has been reported\, for example\, that a single bitcoin transaction and verification equals approximately 1449 KwH (kilowatt hours)\, which is equivalent to about 50 days of power usage for the average American household! Ohio has some 217 data centers\, the fourth highest number among all 50 states. Many of these are hyperscale\, enormous in size. Where do we go from here? \n\n\n\nIn person in Fellowship Hallor via Zoom: https://bit.ly/UUCCForumsThatMatterFall2026

SUMMARY:A Cleaner Energy Future – Moving Away from ‘Fuelish Ohio’
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: David Beach is a writer and activist in Cleveland who speaks frequently on urban design\, land use\, transportation\, and sustainability. \n\n\n\nCountries and cities around the world are transitioning to cheap\, clean\, renewable energy sources\, but Ohio continues to promote the burning of fossil fuels while enacting regulatory barriers to the development of solar and wind. How can we overcome the environmentally unfriendly parts of our state’s energy politics and help Ohio move into a future of affordable\, carbon-free\, locally controlled energy for all? \n\n\n\nAdd News & Forum Categories! \n\n\n\nIn person in Fellowship Hallor via Zoom: https://bit.ly/UUCCForumsThatMatterFall2026
