SUMMARY:Interdependence Practice Group
DESCRIPTION:The first gathering of our Interdependence Practice Group will be Sunday\, October 4\, 11:45AM in the Baker Room (Room 213) What’s an “Interdependence Practice Group”? It’s a bit of an experiment we’re engaging in this fall\, and you don’t really have to be a part of an organized group to take part. \n\n\n\nThe goal is essentially for us to commit to more intentionally engage in honoring our interdependence. This can be within the group\, and it can also be with others in our personal circles. It can be small things: Carpooling just to share a ride\, not out of need. Preparing a meal with or for someone just to have a meal together\, not because someone is in crisis. It could be anything really\, and we’ll explore in our first time together what kinds of things honor our interdependence more fully. \n\n\n\nThen\, we’ll meet once a month to share how things have gone\, both for a sense of mutual accountability and also for mutual inspiration and celebration. Maybe there are unexpected challenges or blessings we’ll hear from one another. Sometimes new practices are easier to take on when you know there’s a group journeying alongside you. \n\n\n\nThat’s the rhythm. Live intentional interdependence\, return to the group and share. We’llcommit to do that for six months and see what emerges. Our inaugural time to connect will be Sunday\, October 4\, at 11:45AM in the Baker Room (Room 213)\, and we’ll chart a course from there.

DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Molly Bryden\, Researcher for Climate & Sustainability at Policy Matters Ohio. \n\n\n\nInterest in data centers and their impacts is growing day by day as the public becomes increasingly aware of the impact of these massive installations. It has been reported\, for example\, that a single bitcoin transaction and verification equals approximately 1449 KwH (kilowatt hours)\, which is equivalent to about 50 days of power usage for the average American household! Ohio has some 217 data centers\, the fourth highest number among all 50 states. SUMMARY:UUs Together: Focus on Sustainability
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Event: Local UU congregations focus on Sustainability \n\n\n\nPlease join our local UU congregations as we gather for our first online meeting of the year. When we met last month for our In-Person Fun Day\, we asked attendees to vote on a list of topics for the coming year. ‘Climate/Environmental Justice’ was at the top of the responses. And\, so\, at this meeting we’ll focus on sustainability.   \n\n\n\nWe’ll hear from members of UUCC (Dell Salza and Anya Ustin) and West Shore (Speaker from FaCt) about what they’ve done to advance sustainability in their buildings\, on their grounds\, and in their communities\, as well as what they have in mind for the future. And together\, we’ll talk about what each of our congregations dream of accomplishing going forward. \n\n\n\nFor the zoom link\, please email Laurie at sunnyskies2023@yahoo.com

SUMMARY:RESCHEDULED: How to Lower the Temperature: Guidance on Listening & Learning in Divided Times
DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Dan Moulthrop\, CEO\, The City Club of Cleveland. \n\n\n\nAre you dreading a Thanksgiving argument with Uncle Al over your opposing political beliefs? Did a controversial speaker ignite loud boos at your son’s graduation? Our political climate Is increasingly marked by demonizing opponents\, building identity around grievances and labeling disagreements as disqualifying. What we agreed was hate speech 5 or 10 years ago is now mainstream. How can we turn this into politics of action\, progress and accountability?  \n\n\n\nIn person in Fellowship Hallor via Zoom: https://bit.ly/UUCCForumsThatMatterFall2026
