SUMMARY:FaCT Distinguished Speaker\, Dr. Randi Pokladnik
DESCRIPTION:FaCT Distinguished Speaker Series presents Dr. Randi Pokladnik“Will Resource-Hungry Data Centers Devour Ohio?”May 23\, 2026 3:00 P.M. Online Zoom \n\n\n\nCommunities across Ohio are voicing concerns about the rapid growth of data centers in their neighborhoods and rural areas. Residentspoint to issues such as noise\, heavy water use\, farmland being turned into industrial sites\, air pollution\, new transmission lines\, and possible increases in utility bills. A single data center can use up to 5 million gallons of water per day for cooling while operating 24/7. \n\n\n\nDr. Randi Pokladnik\, a lifelong Ohio Valley resident\, has degrees in Environmental Engineering\, Chemistry\, and Environmental Studies\, and has worked as a research chemist and science educator. She now volunteers with several environmental groups\, including Mid- Ohio Valley Climate Action\, Save Ohio Parks\, and FaCT. Her work focuses on climate change\, Appalachian environmental issues\, and the role forests play in reducing carbon emissions. \n\n\n\nFaCT Faith Communities Together for a sustainable future.REGISTER ONLINE NOW AT FACTSUSTAIN.ORG/DISTINGUISHEDNote: Event will be recorded

SUMMARY:You can be a Navigator for only 2 hours a month!
DESCRIPTION:A note about how to fit being a Navigator for our UUCC Pretrial Support Team into your busy schedule. You make your own schedule! Whether you can spend a couple of hours a month\, or more\, it’s up to you. \n\n\n\nMany of our Navigators are working full or part time. You decide how many clients you can take at a time – some people can take one\, others more. \n\n\n\nYou can provide the entire support to your client over the phone. You remind them of their court dates over the phone. If your client needs transportation\, you can mail bus passes or schedule Uber for them. You refer them to needed community resources\, using our listing of services and “211” over the phone. \n\n\n\nOur Navigators are doing an amazing job\, and we need more volunteers to keep up with our referrals. Every volunteer helps a person through a confusing and frightening time in their life. Can you help?
