Job Description – Administrator – Cleveland Memorial Society
The Administrator is first and foremost responsible for CMS daily office operations: signing up new members, answering phone and email messages, communicating with the public and the participating funeral directors. Because the communication frequently occurs at a time of grief, the administrator should be sensitive to the needs of new and current members experiencing the death of a loved one.
Personal qualities should include trustworthiness, dependability, and dedication. It is a part-time position but can often ‘leak’ into personal time when urgent calls are received. The hours worked are at the discretion of the Administrator, but the Board expects that tasks will be completed and calls returned in a timely manner.


Hourly wages with a two-week vacation pay, paid in December, based on average weekly hours during the previous 12 months.


Office duties include:
Managing new membership applications, changes to existing memberships, and processing Cleveland Memorial Society donations.


Communicating with public through telephone calls, written correspondence, and emails with members, their families, and our contracted funeral directors.


Informing the Board of Directors of potential problems with members and/or funeral directors.
Reminding funeral directors via a monthly email of their obligation to notify CMS of members’ deaths.
Arranging speakers or meetings with Hospice and other social service agencies to increase awareness of the CMS organization and mission.
