Heights Community: Understanding Structural Racism 4-18, free

Let’s talk about Race, Equity and Inclusion in our community

The Fish, The Lake, and the Groundwater metaphor…If you have a lake in front of your house and one fish is floating belly-up dead, it makes sense to analyze the fish. If you find half of the fish in the lake are dead, you have to ask different questions and analyze the WATER.

That is what we will do, during a GROUNDWATER TRAINING.  During this 3-hour event, Racial Equity Institute (REI) trainers will use data and stories to illustrate how racism is fundamentally structural in nature. Their detailed examination of the characteristics of modern-day racial inequity, within REI’s Groundwater framework, is immediately relevant, accessible, and practical for participants.

The City of Cleveland Heights has provided a grant that is enabling HCC to offer this training for FREE to anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in Cleveland Heights.

We are offering two identical VIRTUAL GROUNDWATER Sessions

 Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

These virtual sessions will be conducted by professional REI trainers from Thirdspace and the Racial Equity Institute.
