Candidate Week and NEW SUNDAY WORSHIP!

We are so excited to have our settled minister candidate, Rev. Randy Partain, with us during a busy week that has involved lots of groups meeting and coordinating to prepare us for special worship on Sunday and a vote! With that in mind, we wanted to make sure to be in touch about all of the ways this Sunday is going to be different than what we’ve been used to. Because things are going to be entirely different this week, and some of those changes will be with us as we continue into the Summer.

First off, Sunday (June 6) worship will take place in-person at the Shaker building and will be out of doors. The weather is supposed to cooperate, and we have a new sound system. So we’ll be doing the service that way this Sunday, and likely for the remaining Sundays this Summer.

We will ALSO be broadcasting the live service via Facebook and our YouTube page. So if you are not comfortable coming to worship in person, please join us online!

Our outdoor service will be less formal than an indoor service, and we specifically invite everyone to bring portable chairs that you are comfortable with to help make up the seats for the service. If you have some extra chairs to lend to those who don’t have them, that would be a very neighborly thing to do!

The less formal, more flexible format of this service makes it open for all – from babies on up. We will not be providing separate child care.

Special Congregational Meeting to Vote to Call Rev. Partain as our Settled Minister!

Following the Service (6/6) this week we will hold a Special Congregational Meeting to vote to call Rev. Partain. This meeting will be held on Zoom, with an in-person option for those who are at the Shaker Building for the service.

The meeting will begin at 12:15 pm, and is expected to last around 15 minutes.

All members are strongly encouraged to attend either in-person or on Zoom. We need a quorum – at least 75 members. Besides, you will want to be a part of calling our first settled minister!

Zoom details: Click here to join Zoom Vote Meeting at 12:15 pm on 6/6

The vote will take place online–– those who are gathered in-person will be invited to use phones and perhaps some laptops that are available. Those at home can vote from computer/phone/tablet or whatever you are most comfortable with.

All members of the congregation were emailed individual Ballot Codes early Thursday, June 3. That email came from [email protected]. If you are a member (or think you are) and, after checking your spam and promotions folders, you find you did not receive this email please email [email protected]. Please check this now and let us know by Saturday if you did not receive it.

Social Time and Vote Results!

Following the Meeting we invite all to join in social time as we wait for the results of the vote – maybe 15 minutes or so.

Covenant Reminder

As we are beginning to gather again in-person take a moment to refresh yourself on our Covenant for Gathering In-Person (Click for Covenant). Masks are expected, and a reminder of allowing each the space they need to be comfortable.

A final note

this year, this Summer and this week in particular will be experiments in our flexibility and generosity as a community. It’s possible things won’t be perfect at all times. In-person elements may not work as we intend. Online formats may not be as cooperative as we wish. Staff and volunteers are going to do everything we can to make this all work. But we beg your patience and understanding when things don’t go as planned.
