Our church began an important relationship five years ago with Franklin D. Roosevelt Academy, called FDR Partners. FDR Academy is a CMSD school for preschool through middle school students in Cleveland’s Glenville neighborhood. The goal of FDR Partners is to support the success of FDR students through volunteer efforts such as tutoring, donating warm clothes, costume/painting help with their Disney musicals, and some fundraising for needs like school uniforms. 

 An especially meaningful fundraiser has been providing scholarships for the Eighth Grade Washington DC trip. This year the trip is cancelled due to the pandemic. The eighth graders will instead celebrate their graduation with a first-ever yearbook – and FDR Partners will be helping! Several UUCC volunteers are working with students to plan the book (thanks especially to Heather Torok!). 

 We are also collecting donations to help with the cost of about $3000, which is not covered in the school budget. We hope that many of you can participate, to help make a challenging year special for these graduating students. Donations by check can be sent to UUCC, 21600 Shaker Blvd., Shaker Hts.
