General Assembly this month! What’s up?

This year at General Assembly, UUCC has one delegate- Laurie Albright, who is the only person who requested this status. One important decision is voting for our next Moderator (6 year term) of the UUA. Please refer to your WORLD magazine for details on the candidates, or click this link: https://www.uua.org/uuagovernance/elections/candidates-uua-moderator-2025-2031 I welcome your thoughts on making this choice.

Below are other items to be voted upon, links to feedback sessions on each, starting JUNE 2!! Again, I welcome your thoughts. You can reach me at ljalbright@hotmail.com

Commission on Social Witness (CSW) Pre-GA Action Items
The Commission’s charge is to oversee the collective social witness process among congregations and groups. During GA the CSW works with delegates on proposed Actions of Immediate Witness and Congregational Study/Action Issues. Learn More about the CSW.

Actions of Immediate Witness (AIWs) express the conscience and carry the authority of the delegates at the GA at which it is passed. AIWs are initiated by individual delegates and move through their entire creation and adoption process during a single GA.

The 2025 AIWs and Feedback Sessions
Five AIWs have been proposed. Delegates and congregations are invited to attend feedback sessions to both learn about the proposed AIW and to provide some feedback to the proposers.

The CSW will conduct a poll, June 11 9am ET to June 16 5pm ET, to select the three AIW proposals to be admitted to the GA final agenda for further discussion and affirmation as required by the UUA bylaws 4.16(b)(2).

Congregational Study/Action Issues (CSAIs) are issues selected by Unitarian Universalist member congregations for three years of study, reflection and action. There have been no CSAIs in the past few years, and the cycle for proposals began again in the Fall of 2024 resulting in three proposals.

Share your feedback and thoughts about the proposals on discuss.uua.org. A discussion of the CSAIs will occur during Thursday’s General Session and voted on afterwards. If no CSAI receives a majority of the vote, a second vote between the top two proposals will be conducted on Friday.
