Member, Leadership Development Committee
Term 2025-2027

Jean Ellsworth-Wolk joined First Unitarian Church in 1990 after her interfaith marriage and the birth of her first child, Lauren. Like many people, she was searching for a welcoming spiritual home for her growing family and found it in the Unitarian Universalist community.
Over the years, Jean has been involved in many aspects of congregational life. She has participated in the Religious Education program, served on a variety of committees, and once coordinated the First Unitarian all-congregation retreat. Today, she is one of the coordinators for Urban Hope, helping lead UUCC’s ministry of hospitality and meal service on Cleveland’s near west side. She especially values the congregation’s commitment to social justice and putting faith into action.
Jean is a retired oncology nurse who now spends much of her time caring for her mother and aunt. She still finds time to enjoy Mah Jongg, pickleball, and volunteering at Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Jean and her husband, Terry, also love traveling to visit new places and their children on the East Coast, and spending time outdoors—especially at their place in Geneva-on-the-Lake.
