The Ohio Legislature passed and Governor Dewine signed SB 1, otherwise known as the Higher Education Destruction Act. It is a horrible piece of legislation, prohibiting University faculty from striking, prohibiting what they call DEI or controversial beliefs (climate policies, foreign policy, immigration policy, marriage, abortion) in curriculums, which must be posted along with compliance reports regarding syllabi, and prohibits the use of diversity statements. A referendum has been approved and is now circulating to remove this law. The campaign has only 45 days!!, starting May 9, to get over 400,000 signatures across the state.
