The bannisters were rotted and the roof was leaking from the rotted wood in the steeple.
That’s what caused the damage to the ceiling of the balcony. Despite the upcoming
renovations, we are repairing it now because continuing water infiltration could cause
debris to fall on people sitting in the balcony. Between now and the renovation, the
goals for building maintenance are to ensure functionality and safety.
