In-Person Hiatus

December 24 2021-January 8 2022

Our Regathering Committee and Worship Team met on December 21. The extremely high Covid rate in Cuyahoga County, our community, and our congregation made the safety of gathering in person a large piece of our discussion. We know the Omicron variant is highly transmissible, and we consider it our responsibility to take actions that minimize the spread.

With all of this in mind, we have decided the following:

  1. Christmas Eve services will be virtual only. There will be no in-person services. There will be one live streamed service at 5:30 pm. It will be on Facebook and YouTube so that you can watch live, or a later time.
  2. The Sunday, December 26 and Sunday January 2, 2022 services will also be virtual.

On December 26 we will be participating in a virtual service sponsored by Certified Lay Leaders in our Region.

On Sunday, January 2 we will be back to a live streamed service on Facebook Live and YouTube. You can find more information about that service here.

We will offer a virtual social hour on Zoom following the virtual services.

  1. We are putting in-person use of the building on hiatus from now through January 8. It’s already scheduled to be closed the week between Christmas and New Years, so this is only extending the closure for an extra week, allowing us to reassess the Covid situation early the first week of January. Staff will be working and can be contacted normally.

All groups who are scheduled to meet in the building through January 8, 2022 should plan to meet over Zoom or cancel that week’s meeting. If you would like to request a Zoom meeting please contact our Office Administrator, Rita O. Jackson.

This hiatus on in-person activities applies to all congregation and rental activites (Meals on Wheels being the exception).

This isn’t what any of us want, but it is a thoughtful, responsible decision. At this time we are just closing through January 8. Early the week of January 3 we will look at the situation and make a decision for the week of January 9.

We all wish you peace, joy, and love this holiday season.

Randy Partain, Minister
Carol Gay, Board President
