Laura Christian Imbornoni was looking for a free-thinking spiritual place of worship in 2018 for herself and her husband, Dr. Steve Imbornoni, when she attended First Unitarian Church of Cleveland. She was impressed by the beauty of the music and by the intelligence and kindness of congregants. She followed the reunification of First U with the UU Society of Cleveland and was impressed with the care in how it transpired. Laura became a part of the exhilarating Forum Committee and then joined UUCC in 2020. She delighted in participating as a congregant in the process of forming a Covenant that serves UUCC well. She served on the Safety Committee. Laura serves as a Worship Associate. She loves the inspiring, interactive, and often whimsical nature of the services. She is curious and excited to be part of what lies ahead for UUCC.
Laura was born in Kentucky and attended college and graduate school in Alabama. She moved from Mobile to become Director of Mentor Senior Center and watched it evolve over thirty years. Part of the evolution was expanding the first facility, building a new one, and then expanding it. Laura has been a student and teacher of yoga, expressive movement therapy, and breathwork for many years, and these became a second career for her. She is also a transpersonal life coach. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Shadybrook.org, now celebrating a seventieth anniversary.
