The Scouts managed to paint the play structure with colorful stains. They found the sanding and staining to be more challenging and time consuming than expected, so they were unable to complete all the repairs as originally intended.
Wood chips for the floor of the playground were delivered by our landscaping company, (mistakenly dumped on the parking lot rather than in the playground), and Ray Gonzales, Pam Bertaud, Michael Kuehm, Debbie Wright, and Dell Salza spent several hours on Wednesday moving and spreading them. Late last week the rest of the wood chips were spread neighbors on Byron Rd including Frankie (age 6), Lulu Beach (age 4) with their little shovels and wheelbarrow they finished the last little bit.
Ray and Ryan McGuire will repair the seesaw and the steering wheel. Lou got the holds for the climbing wall back on the newly painted board.
Also, Ray is looking for tires (not steel-belted) to replace the worn-out ones. He will attach those, and the climbing holds as soon as humanly possible. Many thanks to the Scouts and the UUCC folks who made these badly needed and breathlessly awaited updates.
