Join May Day Strong Demonstration
May 1 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
THIS FRIDAY is May Day! There is a rally planned at Public Square from 4-6pm. We hope this gathering will be even bigger than NO KINGS III. If we believe our country is backsliding in democracy, we need to ask, what can I/we do? A rally doesn’t fix things, but if counters the perception by those who would control us that we are not paying attention and they can do what they will and destroy our democracy. The fact is we ARE paying attention, and we demand our constitution and democracy/republic be safeguarded and strengthened, not destroyed. All means ALL of us, not just the privileged few!
Many of us are planning to take the rapid from Green Rd, others are joining individually. Gather up your signs from NO KINGS, or make new ones! We will also practice a few songs on the way to Tower City!
Take the Rapid Down Town:
2 options, we are meeting at the parking lot of the Green Rd Rapid stop (Just down the road from UUCC)
1. 3 pm: Laurie will be meeting there at 3pm to take the 3:07 rapid, arriving at Tower City 3:38pm
or you can join
2. 3:30 pm: Mark and Dell will be meeting there at 3:30pm to take the 3:37 rapid, arriving at Tower City at 4:08pm
Or travel on your own, and join us there!

Here’s the purpose:
Some Billionaires make and break every ‘rule’, it’s going to take more than a rally to stop them.
Our Demands for May 1st – No more war. Billions for war and genocide profiteers, while private prisons expand and schools close. – Tax the rich so our families, not their fortunes and the war, come first. – Abolish ICE. No private armies terrorizing our neighborhoods.
Labor is the source of all wealth, and entitled to all it creates. So we are showing our unity through a day of No Work No School No Shopping.
We know that there are too many without the freedom to exercise these actions safely and securely yet, and that’s why we organize from now until we mark International Workers Day, May 1st, through action and community.
Please note: A core principle behind all our events is a commitment to collective safety through nonviolent action. International Workers Day has historically been targeted, indeed May Day’s roots lie in Haymarket Square. We encourage all participants to seek to de-escalate potential confrontation.
Also, Sofia, the regional lead for Equality Ohio’s 2 proposed Ohio Constitutional Amendments- Right to Marry and Equal Rights, will be there. If you are willing to collect signatures in these next 2 months, you can check out some petitions at this rally from her. We need many hands to get these on the ballot in November!
Hope to see you Friday!!
