Chalica 2021
Chalica is about to be underway at UUCC! We have a tradition of observing this new UU holiday over the weeks of January and February as a way of centering all of us in our principles in the New Year AND coping with the long winter weeks before March!
This is a celebration that happens in our worship and at home! So, you will need a Chalica kit to observe at home. So, come by the church when you can and when the church is open and grab a kit––they’ll be in brown, handled bags in the foyer area. There will be the materials you need and an informational brochure. So please come by between now and January 4, which we start our observation of the holiday!
(The building should be open this week, and I will make sure that kits are available in the church, East-side foyer throughout the next few weeks!)
YRE Calendar Is Filling Up!
Our RE Calendar is constantly being updated, with “regular” type classes on Sundays being organized as well as with special events being put on the calendar as plans come together. So please keep your finger on the pulse of things –– in fact, you can subscribe to the Google Calendar here. We’ll be updating and scheduling things continuous throughout the new year!
ARE Courses Underway
After a great first go with Adult RE classes on Sunday morning, we are announcing a slate of classes that will be taking place throughout the new year until May! These classes are meant to be easy to take –– they are each only 6 weeks so there isn’t a huge commitment. And they take place online in the hour before service starts. Its a chance to learn, fellowship and plug-in before worship. You can find ALL the details here including descriptions of the classes, schedules, and registration!
Middle School Winter CON!!
February 27th, come join youth in 6, 7 and 8th grades, along with High School staffers and adult advisors, for an online CON experience! The Central East Region and Pacific Western Region have teamed up to offer this event for all middle schoolers across the country. From 2pm until 10pm ET we’ll gather to play games, talk in small groups, have youth-lead worship experiences, attend fun and interesting workshops and get out of our winter-pandemic blues. We’ll be meeting over Zoom, but not for 8 hours straight, don’t worry! And when we are meeting it won’t be like school. Our goal is to have fun and be active while still being together online. Our theme is Kindness – something we think everyone could use right now!
