Food for Our Minds and Spirits: Naming the Unnamable

This was fun to read this week. We go through life learning what things are. We become familiar with them. And, usually, we name them. But then there are things we run into that are common and ordinary, but also NOT the kind of thing we talk about much. When that happens, very often we realize that something we know intimately we don’t have a name for. The device you use in a shoe store to measure your shoe size, the space between your eyebrows, the name for this piece of punctuation: ?! – these are all things with names we just don’t necessarily know. So, here’s a handy guide.
