Greater Cleveland Congregations (GCC) is a non-partisan coalition of faith communities and partner organizations in Cuyahoga County with its stated mission to be “a powerful force for change, creating justice and opportunity in Greater Cleveland by uniting our faith communities and civic partners across lines of race, class, and religion.”
GCC and its partner organizations focus on five key areas of change: Voter Engagement, “fighting voter suppression, depression and regression by mobilizing people to vote in low-propensity voting neighborhoods”; Criminal Justice, creating “a new system of criminal justice by adding pretrial services and putting an end to cash bail and discretionary youth bindover”; Health Equity, “connecting communities of color with primary and preventative care with the goal of creating health equity in Cleveland”; Gun Safety, “reducing gun violence through responsible gun ownership”; Economic Democracy, using GCC participants’ collective spending power “to negotiate better prices for waste hauling, electricity and natural gas.”
