How does voting work at GA? How do our GA delegates vote?
Each year, members of our Congregation are appointed by the Board of Trustees to be delegates at the UUA General Assembly. The UUA requires that all delegates are voting members of the congregation. All other expectations of delegates are allocated to the individual congregation. The UUCC delegate expectations can be found here https://uucleveland.org/uucc-sets-2024-general-assembly-delegate-selection-process
The agenda and items to be voted on are published in early June. Actions of Immediate Witness and Responsive Resolutions are determined closer to the start of GA. During June, leading up to GA, and even during GA amendments may be made to any of the items being voted on.
Our GA Delegates are empowered to take all of the information they are provided into account when they vote on each item. They are expected to have participated in a discussion with the congregation (scheduled for 6/9/2024) on the General Assembly topics, take the congregation input into account, and vote their congregationally informed conscience for each item. Delegates may report how they voted on specific items, but are not required to do so.
