Operations Council Report June 2022

Worship

Air flow plan: Ray and Ken will continue to look for a very quiet but powerful fan.  

Sound system for the hearing impaired: 7/19 installation is still on track.

Sound systems consultant: Mike will contact a consultant to do an evaluation of the old sound system components to see if they can be repurposed for Fellowship Hall or sold.

Events/Calendar Review

UUCC will be live streaming the UUA Convention 6-26 starting at 12:30 pm. We will have a potluck brunch inside and we need servers to ensure compliance with CDC regulations. Wayne Jennings will do the live streaming.

Sunday Services will be starting at 10:15 as of 7-3; new signage will be posted and announcements placed in eblast, website, etc.

Tentatively a Memorial Reception for Amy Canade will be in Lancashire’s Social Hall on Friday, July 15th from 4 – 5:00 pm. Warren Ronney has been contacted to be on the premises.

Communications

Internet: Randy reported that he had talked with Spectrum regarding the Sunday services being interrupted due to inconsistent internet connectivity; Spectrum apologized and said that others in the area also complaining of similar downtime.

Social media: David and Randy: nothing new to report   

Buildings & Grounds

Repair of hallway ceiling, ceiling tiles and overhang roof: Ken is projecting an August start date

Additional EV Charging Station: David will transfer all solar issues to B&G who will oversee the installation of a new, dual charging station.

Operations manuals: Randy is continuing to get new documents and will ask the ministries for documentation as they complete various events and programs, e.g. the Auction 

The Shooting Star film company: damaged two of our neighbors’ tree lawns which the film company paid to be repaired

Finishing asbestos remediation: Ken, will be done soon

Copier lease and folding machine: Rita authorized to purchase a new folding machine or good used one. She will continue to look at a new copier, the lease is up in December.

Welcoming office volunteers recruitment: Rita has recruited new volunteers

The large tent was moved east by 20 ft. on 6/19. Thanks to all the volunteers who
helped.

New water line to be run from the building to the community garden: plumbers are
working up bids.

Parking lot: repair and stripped plus recycle bins moved to SE corner will occur in August. Paper bins are overflowing. We and the Ministry for Earth are looking into changing vendors.

Road closure for fun run on 6/19: UUCC was not notified prior to closure of the entrance to UUCC. Carol wrote a letter to the Chief of Police and a cc to the Mayor asking for clarification on such road closure and notifications organizations and homeowners affected. The Police Chief sent a prompt apology and will look into how to better notify homeowners and UUCC of future road closures.

Sustainability

Landscaping update: mowing continuing at increased height.

Other

David Kantor, who is leaving OC as his term of UUCC Treasurer is ending, thanked the OC for a productive and enjoyable year. OC gave him a rousing round of applause in appreciation for his service and leadership.
