2022: Another Busy Year For GCC

Happy New Year GCC!

We have all taken a breath for the holidays, but now it’s full speed ahead for 2022!

We’re in the process of thinking about the May primaries, particularly the county-wide races for the county executive and judges since GCC’s membership is spread across Cuyahoga County. Join your fellow leaders on Thursday, February 10th, at 7pm for a briefing on what we’re thinking about concerning the elections and other issues in 2022. Register here for the meeting:

We will re-assemble at the February 24th Delegate Assembly after digesting the February 10th briefing and discuss how we develop more concrete action steps going forward into the year. Register here for the Delegate Assembly:

Criminal Justice Update
The Juvenile Bindover and Bail Reform Research Action Teams continue to research, meet and discern what actions they may call for in 2022. The Criminal Justice team is also staying on top the issues around the Crisis Diversion Center. For information on the work of these teams, contact Stacey Hren at stacey@greaterclevelandcongregations.org.

Staff Update
Our GCC staff is growing! We are excited to have added Alejandra Tres to our team! Alejandra is a long-time organizer with special expertise in youth and Latino organizing. She will be working part-time for GCC to help us build a cadre of youth and Latino leaders in Greater Cleveland.

And we are seeking candidates for a full-time associate organizer who will oversee our Criminal Justice work. Here is a description of the position. Please forward it to anyone you think might be an appropriate candidate.
