Childcare Provider Position Opening

Position: Adult Childcare Provider to supervise the childcare space on Sundays.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Hours: Year Round on Sundays from 8:45am – 1:15pm. 1 additional hour paid each week for time to review activities and plan.

There is also a possibility for Wednesday evenings from late August to May from 6:45-9:00pm

And opportunities for picking up other events as they are scheduled throughout the year.

Rate: $22/hour

Childcare Provider Job Description 

Purpose: To provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care to the children, ages 1-6, in a clean environment at UUCC.

Requirements:

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Three references
  • Able to work most Sunday mornings and have reliable transportation in order to do that. 
  • Arrive on time.
  • Able to sit on the floor and interact with children for play. Able to lift children up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be certified in CPR and first aid for infants and children or be willing to be trained.
  • Have a background with references as a babysitter or child care worker.
  • Able to learn the congregation’s safety plan and to understand the safety procedures in case of emergency.
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check to check for issues related to this job’s responsibilities.

Skills:

  • Experience in caring for children between the ages of 0 to 5 with the ability to adapt and interact with a variety of personalities.
  • Able to read picture books to children.
  • A spirit of play and an enjoyment of play and interaction with small children.
  • Ability to remain calm and caring when children are upset or have conflicts with each other.

Job Description:

Carry out any safety plans in case of emergency.

Supervise the childcare space that welcomes toddlers and children through 5-6ish years old. (occasionally up to age 10 in certain circumstances)

Review and plan for session plans that will be provided each week including weekly centering and circle time elements.

Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which includes: escorting to the bathroom, maintaining a safe environment, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, and play.

In the event of an emergency, notify the caregiver or parent.

Be a consistent, welcoming presence for the children each week.

Will work with a volunteer adult caregiver from the congregation each week.

Maintain the supplies and toys in the childcare room. Notify staff if there is a need to replenish supplies.

Welcome children and caregivers to the space. 

Gather specific defined information from new visitors and explain the nursery procedures.

Keep track of supplies and request needed replacements. Such as cleaning supplies, diapers, tissues, etc.

Take attendance and record it.

Be sure each child is signed in and out to the appropriate adult caregiver.

Clean up the room and any toys/beds before leaving. All toys that have had contact with saliva will require cleaning. 

Report to staff member any issues which are hindering the ability to carry out the duties or responsibilities.

Communicate in advance, by text or phone to the Director of Lifespan Faith Development: Any planned absences with an advance two-week notice. Any unplanned absences at least three hours prior to the shift.
