Adult RE Class: The Eighth Principle

The Racial Justice Leadership Team will be leading a timely and urgent ARE session on the Eighth Principle — A proposed addition  to the UU’s seven principles in support of anti-racist work both within congregations and without. But in the process, there are lots of questions that bare on what it means to be UU — What are these principles for? Where did they come from? How have the experiences of POC informed the need for a new expression that is formalized in the UU Principles? What does the proposal say and what does it mean?

This is one of the most important issues in front of UU congregations, but many of us only have a cursory understanding of what’s at stake in this new expression of UU values. This is a chance to spend 5 sessions learning, exploring, discussing and reflecting on what this new principle calls us to live out to make a more just world.

This class will go from 1/9/22–2/6/22. It will meet on Sunday mornings from 9:30—10:30AM on Zoom!

If you have questions or you want to sign up, please reach out to Nancy King Smith, Pat Dillard, or Christie Manning.
