Rev. Renee Ruchotzke a Lively Guest on January 25 Episode
Shy and low key? Those are adjectives rarely ascribed to Dawn Arrington, who will be the special guest on the February 8 episode of UUCC Zoom-In…LIVE! (8-9 pm eastern time).
“We all know Dawn has opinions on a wide range of subjects, and isn’t afraid to share them,” said David Kantor, host of the show. “We’re anticipating a very lively and thought provoking episode with Dawn as our special guest.”
“Dawn has been involved in many of UUCC’s – and previously – First U’s – major undertakings, David noted. “She’s a current member of the Ministerial Church Task Force, and previously served on the UUCC Strategic Planning Task Force and was a member of First U’s team for the Reunification process.”
“And let’s not forget about Dawn’s experiences as an African American UU and her justice activity in the community. There’s a lot we want to ask her about, and I’m guessing that she won’t be at a loss for words. We’re in for a treat – she’ll make us think, she’ll make us laugh, and she’ll make us think some more.”
Will Barrett will co-host the show, and Jack Ulman will be there for the “Jack Ulman Comedy Moment”.
The January 25 episode featured the Rev. Renee Ruchotzke, a Congregational Life Consultant in the Central East Region for the Unitarian
Universalist Association (UUA). Renee discussed her journey from Grand Rapids to Northeast Ohio, from being an engineer to a UU minister, and her experiences with a wide variety of UU congregations. When asked about UUCC’s interest in shared ministry and the issue of finding a minister who would truly share that interest, Renee noted that it’s certainly a reasonable expectation today. She further noted that ministerial attitudes around this concept have changed dramatically during the last 15 years or so.
REMINDER: All UUCC congregants will receive the link to the show via e-mail – sender named “Zoom In Live” – on the Sunday evening prior to the show.
