Food for Our Minds and Spirits: Food Glorious Food

Sometimes it is hard to tap into our spiritual selves or find time to nurture our intellectual curiosity. Here is a section that reflects on some nourishing materials from around the web and related media channels in order to get us thinking, get us feeling, and get us reflecting on the lives we are living in this big, beautiful world. **Some Adult/Mature Themes May Appear in Links and Other Attached Material**

Food Glorious Food!

Food in the Summertime is always a re-set for me. Moreso than the Fall, the absolute, stupid abudance of food that comes in July. There’s so much available in stores, farmer’s markets and home gardens, its a reminder that the Earth does not perceive time as we do, as humans. This is a time of extraordinary life and flourishing. January––when we humans still need to eat!––will be a much different experience of the earth.

That’s why I found this set of maps so fascinating:image.png
It’s a reminder of how broad and multi-form the abundance of food is. Its also a reminder that, in 2021, none of us lives in a way that is entirely local, entirely removed from the rest of the nation––the world beyond too! Tonight, I’m chopping up green peppers, onions, and celery for a gumbo. I bought them at the grocery store. But how many hands are behind their appearance in my refrigerator? How many miles were they transported and in what ways? It truly is an interdependent web.
