Mark Assel and his wife Shelley Assel have been members of the church (1st UU then UUCC) for 22 years. They first tried out 1st UU upon the recommendation of the minister who married them, and they’ve never looked
back after joining. Both their kids, Zach (21) and Hannah (19) , grew up going to RE classes at the church. Over the years he’s been involved with RE 7-8th grade classes, finance committee, plenty of other activities.
When he’s working he designs composite materials for use in specialty brake and clutch applications. His family has lived in Shaker for 24 years. Outside of work he enjoys swimming, photography, travel, and wine. If he can do all those activities in one journey he’s got it made! He enjoys driving around in his convertible, and is planning on taking his car to the track this summer. He’s looking forward to his retirement, when he can work on his napping skills with his dogs Beau and Zoe, and the cat Scrambles.
