October 23 Service Interruption

During this morning’s live-streamed service, at the conclusion of the Benediction, an individual seated near the back of the Sanctuary stood and made a statement about his religious beliefs. When the person’s message became clear, our Community Minister Affiliate, Rev. Rina Shere, who is a Chaplain at a VA facility, intervened. The person left, along with a companion who had remained silent. Rev. Rina and others from the congregation followed the individuals outside and they were escorted off the grounds. The service concluded as scheduled with announcements, the extinguishing of the chalice, and the final song from the Multigen Choir.

There were no physical confrontations or threats. The nature of the interruption and its message were upsetting to some of those present. Rev. Rina is available to speak with people who wish to discuss the experience at 216-333-6355. Our Congregational Minister, Rev. Randy Partain, is also available at 216-245-8373.
