Rev. Randy Partain

Congregational Minister

(216) 751-2320 x104

Randy is a fellowshipped minister with the Unitarian Universalist Association, recently arriving at UUCC after serving as founding minister of Tapestry UU Church in Spring, Texas. This is a year of building new connections, cultivating trust, and discovering the beauty and inspiration of a new community. Randy has also worked as a Spiritual Director, primarily serving clients who are non-religious or spiritually independent. He passionately defines ministry as inviting people into a deeper relationship with themselves, deeper connection with others, and deeper awareness of the world we all share.

Prior to beginning the journey of ministry in the Unitarian Universalist tradition, Randy served as music minister in a variety of Christian churches. As Randy’s personal beliefs evolved beyond the teachings of those communities, he began to feel more and more like an imposter. Randy was overjoyed to discover that Unitarian Universalism offered an opportunity to continue engaging in meaningful ministry while also maintaining a sense of personal integrity and authenticity. As a minister, Randy remains sensitive to those who arrive in UU communities from places of disappointment or wounding from other religious environments.

Music is still a passion and a spiritual practice for Randy, in addition to a variety of mindfulness practices. As part of exploring a new place, Randy is also very much looking forward to experiencing the natural beauty of Cleveland’s Emerald Necklace. Randy finds delight in cooperative board games and role-playing games, and is most at home in the intersection of spirituality, creativity, collaboration, and meaningful play.
