Dear Beloved Community of the UUCC,
Storms abound as we begin 2026: meteorological and political. Even though physically confined to our individual homes this morning, we are together in our common commitment to compassion and justice. I would invite you to spend some time with Jenni Papp’s Chalica materials for this third Sunday (justice). And I would invite each of you to remember the many ways you have answered the call of justice. both large and small. Together we build a world. Thank you.
I’m holding onto the words of Tagore today:
“Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms toward perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action –
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.”
– Rabindranath Tagore, Gitanjali
