Malcolm X film at UUCC May 18th 3:15 PM

May 18 @ 3:00 pm 6:30 pm

The Surprising Malcolm X. SATURDAY, MAY 18 doors open at 3:00 PM, the film starts at 3:30 PM, and the event ends at 6:30 PM. UUCC will show the PBS documentary, “Malcolm X: Make it Plain,” as we were asked to host by Racial Equity Buddies. We will host several other congregations promoting anti-racist perspectives and practices. One of the most pivotal figures of our time, Malcolm X, articulated the global struggle against racism with profound clarity. He was also, surprising to many, the soul and vision of fundamental human rights. Transcending the conversation beyond civil rights, he promoted and demanded recognition of our common humanity and the inherent worth and dignity of everyone, both locally and globally.

Come, be surprised, and engage with others working to create more just and caring congregations and communities. There will be a brief intermission with light refreshments and a half hour of table discussion, ending at 6:30 PM.

The film starts promptly at 3:30 PM. Pre-registration is required, and space will be limited. Email kgrochau@gmail.com to register by May 14th. Please also indicate if you have any dietary restrictions. A vegan option will be offered.

Sponsored by Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cleveland Racial Justice Leadership Team; Community Church of Chesterland; Social Justice Ministry of Federated Church, Chagrin Falls, and Racial Equity Buddies.
