Zoom-In Live! Announces Ending of Show in Mid-September

Randy Partain and Joy Partain to Appear in August

Surprise Wrap-Up Show on September 13th

UUCC Zoom-In…LIVE! announced that the congregation’s infotainment show will end its run with the show on September 13. The show will have run for just over a year, premiering on August 24, 2020.

“We’ve had a great run,” said David Kantor, host of the show. “We’ve had terrific guests – a variety of members of the congregation, along with a number of our staff. And we’ve had a very loyal following from the outset, which I think reflects that we’ve been doing something right.”

“But, you know, when Carol Gay and I conceived the show during the early Summer of 2020, we were responding to what we both considered to be a major issue – the lack of opportunity for larger in-person gatherings for our congregants due to the pandemic. UUCC Zoom-In…LIVE! was an initiative to provide an opportunity for a large group of congregants to convene, to continue that sense of community that we all know is so important in our congregation.”

“It was a real bonus that not only did our congregants like getting together, but they also enjoyed the content, the ability to learn much more about a fellow congregant or staff member. And, of course, EVERYBODY loves the Jack Ulman Comedy Moment,” David observed with a smile.

“Well, we’re now able to convene in person for our outdoor Summer services and, potentially, other events. And we’re hoping that we’ll continue to be able to be together in person thereafter. With that being the case, the core motivation for initiating the show is no longer relevant, so we’ve opted to end it.”

David continued: “But we ARE going out with one big bang. Our first show in August, on August 9, will feature our new minister, Rev. Dr. Randy Partain, as our special guest. Randy will have just relocated here from Houston, and as he did during his time with us during his candidating week, will have interesting observations for us about all sorts of stuff pertaining to life in general, Unitarian Universalism, and UUCC. And, along the way, I’m sure we’ll learn a lot more about Randy as a person.”

“And if you think that one Partain makes for a good show, I’ll agree with you, so we’re going to do a second show – on August 23 – with ANOTHER Partain – Joy – who is related to Randy by marriage. Anybody who met Joy during her visit with Randy to Cleveland knows that she’s a really interesting person in her own right, and is anything but “just the minister’s wife.” Everybody who tunes in to the August 23 episode will know that after hearing from her that evening.

What about the final show on September 13? David was coy in his response: “Well, the UUCC Zoom-In…LIVE! team – producers Carol Gay and Liz Kantor and co-hosts Will Barrett and Claudia Victoroff – and I discussed the final episode, and we already have the outlines of what we’re going to do. But we’ll leave the specifics for another announcement later on. We’re confident that whether you’ve been a regular viewer or are just checking us out, you’ll really want to see this show, along with our August episodes.”

The pre-show begins 10-12 minutes before 8 with a three-song music mix, then follows with David and co-host interviewing the special guest for about 30 minutes. After a short break, the audience asks questions of the guest for the remainder of the show. “The smart folks show up at around 12 minutes before 8 and stay a few minutes after the show ends to listen to the music,” David observed.

The UUCC community is provided with the Zoom link to the show the Sunday before each episode in the early evening. The sender of the link is “Zoom In Live.” Please join David and the crew for what promises to be some very entertaining, informative and interesting episodes of UUCC Zoom-In…LIVE!
