Zoom-In LIVE! FINAL SHOW! Final Episode to Air September 13th

Host David Kantor Will Receive the “Special Guest” Treatment

The final episode of UUCC Zoom-In…LIVE!, the congregation’s infotainment show, will air on September 13. The show will have run for just over a year, premiering on August 24, 2020. David Kantor, who has hosted the show from the outset, will be the “special guest” for this episode.

“I have no idea what’s going to happen on the final show,” David noted. “I’ve said many times that we’ve got a great team putting Zoom-In…LIVE! together on a routine basis, and we’ll all see it again on the final show, when the team puts the entire show together with no real involvement from me.”

The team includes producers Carol Gay and Liz Kantor, and co-hosts Will Barrett and Claudia Victoroff. Will and Claudia will share hosting duties during the final show.

“I’ve been asked by several people what’s going to happen to make the final show special. I’ve been able to say that I honestly don’t know, but I DO know from the little hints that I’ve heard from the team that all bets are off – they’re planning the show without any regard to the format and content of prior shows. THAT could make it fun,” David said with a grin. “We’ll just have to see what happens on September 13. Whether you’ve been a regular viewer or not, I’d urge people to check out this episode. I’ve no doubt it’ll be must see TV.”

David was philosophical in discussing the conclusion of the show. “We’ve had a great run,” he noted. “We’ve had terrific guests – a variety of members of the congregation, along with a number of our staff. And we’ve had a very loyal following from the outset, which I think reflects that we’ve been doing something right.”

“But, you know, when Carol Gay and I conceived the show during the early Summer of 2020, we were responding to what we both considered to be a major issue – the lack of opportunity for larger in-person gatherings for our congregants due to the pandemic. UUCC Zoom-In…LIVE! was an initiative to provide an opportunity for a large group of congregants to convene, to continue that sense of community that we all know is so important in our congregation.”

“It was a real bonus that not only did our congregants like getting together, but they also enjoyed the content, the ability to learn much more about a fellow congregant or staff member. And, of course, EVERYBODY loves the Jack Ulman Comedy Moment,” David observed with a smile.

“Well, we’re now able to convene in person for our outdoor Summer services.

And we’re hoping that we’ll continue to be able to be together in person thereafter. With that being the case, the core motivation for initiating the show is no longer relevant, so we’ve opted to end it.”

“Yes, I’ll own up to a bit of melancholy about the wrapping up of the show. I mean, I’m one of the show creators and I’ve been on every show. But I’m convinced that now is the right time to call it a day. No doubts, no hesitancy.”

The pre-show begins 10-12 minutes before 8 with a three-song music mix, and wraps up with another song. “The smart folks show up at around 12 minutes before 8 and stay a few minutes after the show ends to listen to the music,” David observed.

The UUCC community is provided with the Zoom link to the show the Sunday before each episode in the early evening. The sender of the link is “Zoom In Live.”
