After a particularly devise election it is even more important to gather together to try and make sense of the world.  I often use the term “beloved community” interchangeably with covenantal community or especially the shortened term community, which can also simply mean neighborhood.  To me, a religious community, however we define the term, “religious,” or “sacred,” is one that has a covenant with one another-that comes from our Pilgrim heritage as well as Judeo Christian heritage.  In our tradition, however, we create it among ourselves in what I call a religious relationship or a religious dimension.  And, by the way, a “Crazy Quilt” is not a slur on mental illness, but an old quilters term.
