Since 2009, Transgender Day of Visibility (March 31) has been an opportunity to celebrate transgender people, raise awareness of transgender issues, and highlight the contributions transgender people have made in society. And yet, throughout human history, hundreds of cultures have recognized, revered, and integrated a multiplicity of genders. How have our assumptions about gender and sexuality kept us from radical hospitality? And how can our principles guide us toward a fuller celebration of human identity?
