As a national association of congregations, we are exploring what it might mean to revise a portion of our bylaws that defines our shared principles and sources. In other words, we are considering whether our current covenant reflects who we aspire to be as Unitarian Universalists. These conversations reveal how very fond we are of wordsmithing documents and seeking intellectual precision.

But where does integrity fit into our mental exercise of finding inspiring and precise language? What if our values had no words?
