January In-Person Hiatus

Just before Christmas, we temporarily closed the UUCC building in light of the extremely high Covid rate in Northeast Ohio. While the rate is still high, we believe there are situations where smaller groups can meet safely – if they are comfortable doing so. We trust you, our congregants to make the best decisions for yourselves and fellow congregants.

We will continue to have only virtual services only through the end of January. The services will be live streamed on Facebook and YouTube. We will continue to hold a virtual (zoom) coffee hour at noon following these live streamed services. The building will continue to be closed (and locked) through the end of January. Beginning Monday, January 10, small groups may meet indoors at the Shaker Building so long as they agree to the safety procedures and process listed below. We look forward to seeing you in the virtual sphere, and are hopeful that we will be able to have in person services again soon.

Small Groups Guidelines

Small groups (12 or fewer people) may meet indoors at the Shaker Building. We are neither encouraging or discouraging this. Each group needs to decide what is best for themselves.

The small group needs to decide as a whole that they feel comfortable meeting in person. This decision should be made by the entire group. Six foot distancing is expected at all times. People should be fully vaccinated to attend in-person activities. Masks need to be worn at all times throughout the entire building. If your group can not make that commitment, it should meet virtually.

Rooms will have air purifiers running during gatherings. The building door locks will be scheduled to be unlocked, or a custodian will be available to let people in. Please do not prop doors open.

In order to handle the added facilities and administrative support during this time groups must confirm with our Office Administrator, Rita O. Jackson  that they will be meeting in person for their scheduled time. This needs to be done by a week before the scheduled meeting. The exception to this is groups scheduled in the next week, who should inform Rita by Tuesday, 1/11. And of course, any person experiencing any possible Covid symptoms or has a known Covid exposure should opt out of meeting in person.

As before, if your group wants to use Zoom please contact our Office Administrator, Rita O. Jackson.
