The Unitarian Universalist Flower Ceremony is a beloved annual ritual celebrating beauty, diversity, and community. Originally created by Rev. Norbert Čapek in 1923 in Prague, the ceremony invites each person to bring a flower and place it in a communal vase. At the end of the service, everyone takes home a different flower, symbolizing the shared gifts and individuality of the congregation. It’s a joyful expression of unity, mutual respect, and the strength we find in coming together.
