UUA GA June 22 – June 28, 2022
Mark and Kathleen Binnig attended the UUA GA in Portland, Oregon as in person delegates for UUCC. There is so much information we could share with UUCC.
Fill-R-Up:
After being down for repairs and an upgrade, the EV charging station is back up and running in the parking lot. The upgrade doubles the capacity of the station and it can now simultaneously charge two EV’s. As in the past, use of the service is free and open to the Congregation and the surrounding community. Sunshine is free but, maintaining the station’s equipment does have a cost. Free-will donations utilizing the box next to the station are greatly appreciated.
GCC Leadership has asked members of the Criminal Justice Team to solicit personal stories of pre-trial detention from within our congregations. So, if you have had such an experience, or know of someone who has, we’d very much like to talk with you and, of course, we’ll maintain any level of confidentiality you require.. The Poor People’s Campaign seeks empowerment of the 140 million people in the US living in poverty. The movement reflects an omnibus vision to restructure our society from the bottom up, recognizing that in order to build a true Third Reconstruction we must simultaneously deal with the interlocking injustices of systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation and the denial of health care, militarism and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism that blames the poor instead of the systems that cause poverty. This project fit with the congregation’s justice priorities.
